Muddyboots is a friendly, dynamic and professional mountain guiding company lead by Mario Macrory. We are the South East’s leading providers of guided walks and “Mountain Skills” training courses approved by Mountaineering Ireland.

Our aim is to help people interested in visiting mountain regions to do so with confidence, enjoyment and safety. We love to help people extend their horizons, develop their individual skills and have fun doing so. We do this by providing quality advice, instruction and guiding with sensible and friendly encouragement.

About Mario

Mario is an experienced qualified Mountain Leader with extensive knowledge of all of Ireland’s mountains, particularly the mountains of the South East. He gained his knowledge not only through many years of climbing their slopes but also through membership of Mountain Rescue Ireland. Mario has trekked in all seasons in Europe, Britain and Ireland with over 10 years experience in the mountains. Previous clients have included charitable organizations, corporate events, schools, clubs, civil defence members and of course private individual guiding.

We work with you to design the right trip for you, whether you are an experienced mountaineer or just want a gentle walk on a rugged hill. We have the flexibility to tailor days to suit you, catering for both individuals and groups, large or small.

In-depth knowledge of the region and localities is an essential element in maximising your enjoyment on your walk. We will show you all of the local sights and landmarks, and provide the context and history of this wonderful area.

Our commitment to safety

From the start of each trip to the finish, safety is our main priority. With years of experience, we understand the diverse mountain environments and have a 100% commitment to our client’s safety at all times. Mario is qualified in wilderness first aid, and is fully insured and Bord Failte approved. He is also a long-standing member of Mountain Rescue in Ireland, so rest-assured, you will be in safe hands.
